Welcome to Information Assurance Certification Review Board (IACRB)

The Information Assurance Certification Review Board (IACRB) is a global entity with the express purpose to certify information security professionals. The mission statement brief in Article 1(a) of our charter reads:

"The Board will sponsor a world-class certification set, that meets or exceeds the needs of organizations and individuals wishing to hold candidates to the highest possible level of professional certification in the area of information security. As much as it is feasible, the Board will remain independent from any commercial organization.

The primary basis for our certification set will be a hands-on practical exams, which will demonstrate without a doubt that the certification candidate has the request practical knowledge, skills and awareness to perform the relevant job duties at a competent level of efficiency in the global information security workplace."

The IACRB currently offers certifications for 7 job-specific responsibilities that reflect the current job-duties of information security professionals:

Penetration Tester/Ethical Hacker - CPT
Expert Penetration Tester/Exploit Developer - CEPT
Application Security Specialist - CASS
Reverse Engineer - CREA
SCADA Security Analyst - CSSA
Data Recovery Professional - CDRP
Certified Computer Forensics Examiner - CCFE

All certifications offered by the IACRB are composed of a traditional multiple choice exam, as well as a hands-on practical exam. The goal of this two step process is to determine if a certification candidate possesses the required knowledge of theories and concepts. Additionally, the second step is designed to rigorously test the ability of the candidate to perform job relevant, hands-on technical skills related to information assurance.
